The Holiday Hole

These next couple of months are the hardest for me as a Gym owner. I watch, year after year, people bust’n their asses at the gym just to slowly fall back into old habits. It starts as a missed day at the gym here and there which turns into missed weeks, and by the end of November they’re telling themselves they’ll get back at it in January. Meanwhile, the mental discipline they spent hours, weeks, months, cultivating….dissipates.

You see, it’s not the body that takes so long to build….it’s the mental discipline. The discipline to workout regardless of motivation. The discipline to push the body passed it’s preconcieved limits. The discipline to choose foods that fuel the mind and muscles, rather than foods that feed their fat cells. That last one is the hardest battle. It’s the one they struggle the longest and hardest with, yet it’s the first thing to go during this time of year. I don’t expect perfection, after all, it IS the holiday season. I DO expect consistency. It’s the difference between maintaing and starting over. That discipline is tempramental and quickly fades if not practiced in some way or another throughout the holidays. So I make one small request, end this year with your discipline intact. Make 2019 not just the last year you struggle, but the last decade. Look at how long it took to produce what you are today, I beg you, do not throw it all away during the holidays. The thing about success is, once it’s obtained….it has to be MAINTAINED. You’ll need the discipline to get it, and you’ll need the discipline to keep it. We all know the holidays aren’t going anywhere. November and December aren’t magically going to dissapear for a while so you can stay on track and nab your success, so I ask you….are you going to do what it takes to manifest your holiday discipline? Or take the weightloss rollercoaster for another ride. 8 weeks until the end of the year…..what are you going to do with it?
